Clock Repair - Fusee cable termination

Hi, Railbuff, here are a few suggestions which may be of help. Your local bicycle shop will have thin steel cable with a ferrule fixed on one end, this can be filed & fitted to suit. The barrel end of the cable will go through 2 or more holes to lock. When soldering cable use a soldering iron as using a flame always seems to ruin the cable The iron gives a slower heat , the flame' blues' the cable very quickly. On thin cable try simply tying a tight knot, run in solder then nip off any excess. After soldering always wash the joint well to remove any flux. When cutting cable run in some solder first then cut through the solder patch to prevent fraying. Hope this helps.
