Usually a cheap repair means you will not be happy. That doesn't mean that you should look for the most expensive, thinking that it must be good! It's just that a very low estimate is a red flag. Ask what the repairer will do. He or she should completely disassemble for cleaning. Does he install bushings? Does he have a lathe?<br />On a recent trip to another state to visit a relative who lives in a small town, we walked down Main Street and visited several antique shops. One had a lot of clocks for sale. They also did repairs, and for some reason they left the completed jobs with attached invoices on a front counter in plain view. I couldn't resist a quick glance at two or three as I walked by. The charges were so low that I still can't figure out what it all meant.
